The Omni is Selkirk's all-court take on the Boomstik. Both use a 16mm foam core, a T700 carbon face with InfiniGrit texture, and built-in MOI weights. The Omni trades some of the Boomstik's raw power for more control and adjustability.
The short answer
- Choose the Selkirk Boomstik if you already have a solid soft game and want maximum put-away power, pop and the biggest sweet spot.
- Choose the Selkirk Omni if the Boomstik sounds too jumpy, you get popped up in hands battles, or you want to tune the paddle's weight to your game. It's the safer all-court pick, and it's in stock now.
Core: how Selkirk tamed the power
The Boomstik pairs its foam centre with a thick EVA ring, which gives it a trampoline-like pop. The Omni adds a second foam ring and uses a thinner EVA layer, which takes the edge off that rebound. The result is noticeably more control on dinks, drops and resets. It's still a powerful paddle, just not a control paddle.
Power and spin
In independent lab testing the Boomstik ranks among the most powerful paddles ever measured. The Omni tests well above average for power, but clearly below the Boomstik. For spin the Omni measured slightly higher of the two.
Adjustable vs fixed weights
The Omni's weights are removable, so you can move them to change how the paddle swings and how stable it feels. Remove and refit them rather than sliding them, to keep the edge guard secure. The Boomstik's weights are fixed.
Forgiveness and handling
The Boomstik is one of the most forgiving paddles around, and almost the whole face plays like a sweet spot. The trade-off is a high swing weight that can feel slow in fast exchanges at the net. The Omni is a touch quicker and still has a large sweet spot.
Availability
Both are in stock now. The Omni comes in several colourways including limited editions, and the Boomstik is available in Black and the Jack Sock Signature edition.
