The Q2 and the V2 cost the same and share RPM's 419mm elongated shape, but they are built very differently. The Q2 is RPM's power paddle and the V2 is its spin and control paddle.

The short answer

  • Choose the RPM Q2 if you drive, serve hard or play singles. Its all-foam core gives you the most power and pop in RPM's range.
  • Choose the RPM V2 if you play mostly doubles and win points at the kitchen. It gives you more spin, more control and a more forgiving feel when you miss the centre.

Core: foam vs honeycomb

The Q2 has a fully molded EPP foam core. The V2 uses a tri-density polymer honeycomb with an EVA foam ring. That one difference explains most of how they play. The Q2 feels firm and springy, like a springboard, while the V2 holds the ball on the face a little longer and is easier to take pace off.

Power vs spin

RPM ranks the Q2 highest for power and the V2 highest for spin in its own line-up. Reviewers agree. The Q2 is the one to reach for when you want to finish points. The V2 is the one for shaping dinks, topspin rolls and resets.

Control and forgiveness

The Q2's pop is a strength on drives but it can make soft shots harder to dial in, especially for newer players. The V2 is the more forgiving of the two, with off-centre hits staying under control. If you're still building your soft game, the V2 is the easier paddle to learn with.

Singles or doubles?

A common way to split them: the Q2 for singles (big serve, rush the net) and the V2 for doubles (patience, placement and spin).

What we stock

Both in 16mm. The V2 Blackout is in stock now. The original V2 and the Ella Oh Pink colourway are currently sold out.
