On paper these two are remarkably close. In independent lab testing the Luzz Inferno2 M1 and the RPM Q2 measured almost the same power and spin. The real differences are feel, face material and which tournaments they're approved for.

The short answer

  • Choose the Luzz Inferno2 M1 if you want power with a softer, more cushioned feel and a silicon carbide face, and you play in events that accept UPA-A approved paddles.
  • Choose the RPM Q2 if you like a firm, springy response, or you need USA Pickleball (USAP) approval for the events you play.

Feel: soft vs stiff

Testers describe the Inferno2 M1 as soft and hollow, and the Q2 as stiff and hollow. The power is similar, but the Luzz absorbs more of the impact while the Q2 springs the ball back quicker. If you prefer a plush, cushioned feel, try the Luzz.

Face: silicon carbide vs carbon fibre

The Inferno2 M1 uses an Aero-Black silicon carbide surface. The Q2 uses a carbon fibre face. Both produce plenty of spin out of the box. Silicon carbide is generally more resistant to wearing smooth.

Approval: check before you buy

The Inferno2 M1 is UPA-A approved. The Q2 is USA Pickleball (USAP) approved. For social and club play this doesn't matter. If you enter sanctioned tournaments, check which approval list your event uses.

Handling

The Luzz measured a slightly higher swing weight, so it carries a bit more weight through the ball, which helps on drives. The Q2 is a little quicker in fast hands exchanges.
